Jones began her track career in 2005 after she graduated from university. She was the winner of both her events, the Torino Memorial and the Heusden Track competitions during the same season.

Brandt moved to Auckland, New Zealand after moving from Cape Town South Africa in later the adolescent years. Her talent was recognized in Auckland by the local Director of casting Brandt.
